ASTMA is a duo
project of Olga Nosova (drummer and vocalist) and russian industrial
electronic scene pioneer Alexei Borisov. This duet formed in 2009 in
Moscow plays improvised music inspired by free-form, spoken word,
psychedelia, live electronics, noise…ASTMA band is touring extensively,
performing in Russia,Turkey, Finland, Poland, Netherlands, France,
Israel, USA… Their music is published in CD on : Zeromoon (USA), Letmo
Productions (Czech Republic), Moozak (Austria), Viande (Italy). Also,
many CDR or Net productions are available on : HAK Lo-Fi Record
(France), Nostress Netlabel (Italy), Top 40 (Russia), Buh Records
(Peru)…
Anton Mobin, Cisco C. & Monobloc Sound Fidelity
Formed after a
radio concert on KKWNE and first collaboration for Classwar Karaoke
(020 Survey), the trio performed a few times around France and released
their first EP in 2014 on H.A.K. Lo-Fi Record & Tünel records.
Anton Mobin perfomed (on stage or recordings) with Jello Biafra,
Bryan Lewis Saunders, Hopek Quirin, London Improvisers Orchestra, Cisco
C. is till a few years involved in Vox Populi! (The famous french
Ethno-industrial band) and Monobloc Sound fidelity is member of Oleo
Strut (Italian/French collective)
“Astma meets Sczrs” is a LP project based on a friendship synergy to
push things further with the common wish to lead each musician towards
something new. More than playing together as a quintet, “Astma meets
Sczrs” project wants to be a reflexion about recording improvised music
to make a record and obtain more instant compositions.
These two days recordings session provided time and space allowing
each musician to have two different set up and be able to adapt their
purpose according the contraint and the direction to give to the music.
As well, Astma get his complete set up with Alexei Borisov playing
electronics, voice, acoustic guitar and Olga Nosova on a large
percussive kit composed with drums, various percussions, daily objects,
recorder, pungi, zither and also an electronics set up. Sczrs extend his
set up more largely for this session as Monobloc Sound Fidelity playing
sampler and electronics, Cisco C. playing Cello and a more electronics
set up with synths, and Anton Mobin on bass for the first time in ten
years on a record and also playing cassettes.
The music proposed on this LP is based on basic constraints, some
rules or just form suggested before playing as “make a drone”, “make a
piece for child”, “do not play more than 2 seconds”, “play a single
impact”... Contraints do not mean reduction of liberty but on the
contrary make the music evolving on the degenerative way through
something else or sometimes opposite to the first direction.
This
album recorded in May 2014, mixed in 2015 and finaly released in 2016 is
the fruit of a long labour in term of communication cause to the
distance (France, Russia, Germany) to keep everyone alert and aware of
the making of the project, but mainly an intense work of mixing and
exchange, sharing ideas about the music and what we really want to do
with tons of tracks and hours of recordings : on 24 pieces we selected 8
of them.
Il neige sans discontinuer. Il neige tout le temps. Chaque heure du jour et de la nuit, il neige. Des gros flocons, des petits flocons, de la pluie de flocons remplissent le ciel, flottent dans l’air, atterrissent sur les trottoirs gelés, les routes glacées, les arbres givrés, les toits enneigés. La neige habille Montréal, la pare de blanc par couches successives. Cinq centimètres puis dix puis quinze puis deux puis cinq. La ville se fige. Trente jours passent. Rien ne disparaît, le froid conserve tout en l’état et le monde s’en accommode. Le chameau s’en accommode. La neige l’abreuve de son breuvage glacé. Le froid ne l’assaille pas. Les températures baissent. Il ne les ressent pas. Dehors, il neige sans discontinuer. Des heures qu’il ne s’est pas arrêté de neiger, des heures que les flocons habillent la ville d’un manteau de plus. L’hiver s’installe. Et le chameau s’adapte.

Our friend Ayato presents us 2 sides of his works using radios. On Ion Trap, radio sounds are used as background soundscapes for guitar tracks that were recorded live in his homestudio (no overdubs, but using a looper), atmospheric and melancolic melodies, with a “vintage vibe” and some more exeperimental moments with prepared guitar.
Radio Scrap comes as a more exeprimental bonus full-length CD-R, where radio sounds are harsher, more chaotic and proeminent, enhanced with TR606 and prepared tapes, dictaphones, and even balalaika and sanza on 1 track.
For this 3rd business-card CD-R release, Eg0cide welcomes Tzii, a long-time experimental musician / filmaker, and founder of the Night On Earth label. Ethereal and spooky in the same time his ambient piece “Fuga ae f sol e” reminds me early ambient industrial with its vintage synths and mysterious voice. Totally addictive!
We are very glad to welcome the amazing Hunting Rituals on Eg0cide. “Wider Realm” was issued on tape by Cloud Valley 2 years ago and is out of print since a long time. It is now available on CD-R, remastered by the artist and with a new artwork by Eg0cide S.A. (with special thanks to Cédric for the special paper!)
Hunting Rituals is known for his crooked noisy ritual soundscapes with reeds, strings and obscure lo-fi sound manipulations. This album show the quieter side of his work, more ritual, almost meditative. Recommended to fans of early Voice of Eye or Zoviet France
